2763. Edgar Daniel Sias
Occupation: school teacher, Harbor View, FL (there are three towns of this name in FL, so county is unknown)
2399. Joseph Peter Cranwill
Errata in Documents.
Joseph, son of Patrick, officially no mention of Miss Sutherland, he married 1st. Miss Earle, 2nd. Miss Hughes.
It is suggested that Joseph Godkin's first wife was a "Maria" as this was the christian name given to his only, known, daughter and who is,believed,to have married Peter Cranwill.
It was also mentioned,by the Rev. Fossey Tackaberry,of Uncles Eades and this would be William George Eades who married Mary Ann Cranwill at St.
Mogues,Ballycanew,County Wexford,15 June 1802 and where it would seem that Mary Ann was a sister to Jane Cranwill.Of interest is the marriage of John Taggaber, bap. 8 August 1604,who is believed to have married Agnes Eades c. 1645.
2403. Jane Cranwill
Jane Cranwill first married John Tackaberry son of Fossey Tackaberry Sr. who lived in Tomagaddy almost opposite to Ballinakill ** and my Grandfather was a Johnston who married into
Tomagaddy. He had a half brother, the Rev. Fossey Tackaberry, whose
painting is now in Clone. There were thirteen children (Johnstons) in
Tomagaddy and I think there was one member in each family who had
Hollingsworth in their name, as they all seemed to be very proud of the
Hollingsworths! Letter to Harry Hollingsworth from Mrs. Allen. They owned about 500 acres of land. I often heard one of my Aunts
say her grandfather (Hollingsworth - H.H.) used to ride a horse to
Dublin to collect rents. There was quite a lot of silver which must
have been divided up among the family. I must say all my Aunts were
really wonderful women!Alluding briefly to other comments in Mrs Allen's letter, the
Hollingsworths did own nearly 500 acres. They held 1/3 of Clonard,
as described above, as well as a little over 360 acres in Ballycanew
Parish, County Wexford, as proved by the Tithe Applotments, c1833.
(HR Vol. 2, pp. 35, 36, 72-74.)The lands of Ballinakill, leased in
1746 and reconfirmed to John Hollingsworth in 1782, descended to his
son, Samuel, at John's death in 1791, probably bequeathed to Samuel
by the last will and testament of John Hollingsworth. (Abstract has
been published in HR. Original will perished, along with copy.)This is the strongest evidence that John Hollingsworth (1789-1877) the
father of Eliza Johnston, was Samuel's, rather than Thomas' son - that
he, as eldest son and heir at law to Samuel, would inherit Ballinakill
on the death intestate of his father. From Lila Cranwill, December 1950 - copied from Mia Cranwill (3 Sheils Square, Stillorgan, Dublin) As you can see Mia Cranwill says Jane married Mr. Johnson first, unknown at this time which husband was first, records seem to indicate Mr. Tackaberry was first.
Errata in Documents.
Joseph, son of Patrick, officially no mention of Miss Sutherland, he married 1st. Miss Earle, 2nd. Miss Hughes.
Jane married 1st. Mr. Johnson, 2nd. Mr. Tackaberry. (not correct Mr. Tackaberry was 1st husband)Jane CRANWELL was born before 1769 in Ballinamoney, Ballycanew, Co Wexford, Ireland. She died after 1796.
Spouse: John TACKABERRY . John TACKABERRY and Jane CRANWELL were married. Children were: John TACKABERRY , George TACKABERRY , William TACKABERRY , Fossey TACKABERRY .
By 1836,when Lord Mount Morris sold off his Ballycanew estate(see:Mount Norris Auction Rental,1836)Incumbered estates Court,Box 835;Michael Thunder estates),farms on the townland of Tomagaddy were held,on leases dating from 1792 by Fossey Tackaberry(for the lives of John Tackaberry, aged 23,George Tackaberry, aged 19,and William Tackaberry, aged 16);Robert Tackaberry(for the lives of Benjamin Tackaberry his son, aged 23,Benjamin the son of WilliamTackaberry of Ballinasilloge, aged 12,and Robert the son of Richard Tackaberry of Ballinacarageen aged 10);Samuel Tackaberry;and William Tackaberry(each for his own life and two other lives unnamed).
By 1853,the tenants(holding from George Thunder) were Fossey Tackaberry,Fossey Tackaberry, junr.,Thomas Tackaberry,Esther Tackaberry and Robert Tackaberry. There was a John Tackaberry b.c 1771 who died 20 August 1801(30) and he is the, believed, father of the Rev. Fossey Tackaberry and his brother, the Rev. John Cranwill Tackaberry and the son of Fossey Tackaberry(of the 1792 lease) who passed away 5 September 1799,age 58.
The view has been taken that all three,John,George and William, are, indeed, children of Fossey Tackaberry ( Incorrect, They are the children of John Tackaberry and Jane Cranwill) and an unknown mother(maybe "Sarah").Thanks to Robin Thackaberry,of Perth,Western Australia, the 1792 Leases have been sighted and which says that all three(John,George and William) are sons of the said Fossey Tackaberry. (not correct)John to Jane Cranwill (Jane re-married to William Johnston 1805)
Jane to William Johnston 1805(Jane Cranwill-widow)
