There are recycling organizations and initiatives all over this country and around the world. These groups focus on the elimination of waste rather than the management of waste. The elimination of waste revolves around a simple shift in thought-waste should be thought of a valuable resource rather than useless material waiting for disposal. If we bury or burn it now many resources will not be here for future generations. Recycle, Reduce, Reuse
Many communities, businesses and Provinces have cut their waste by 50 to 60 percent-it is our goal to bring this information to Boundary County with a web page outlining how various communities have achieved waste reduction goals. The Zero Waste web site will also feature information on recycling at the landfill, Junior High recycling program, area recycling businesses, tips on recycling. In short, everything useful we can think of about garbage.
There
are lots of things we as individuals can do now and many exciting things
we can do in the future as a group-working together as a community. After
all, garbage is something we all have in common. Wouldn’t it be great if
we could come together as a creative bunch of folks and have fun dealing
with our garbage!
Mission Statement Zero Waste Boundary County-working to encourage community commitment and creative involvement in reducing our solid waste. Reduce-Recycle-Reuse-compost
